Chairman Engelmann stated that WRS meeting was last week. A lawyer has been hired by the Rescue Squad. At the meeting the lawyer recommended two proposals for the Rescue Squad; one being stand alone as its’ own entity; or Municipal Boards run the rescue squad; which would not have any WRS members on the board. There would be a manager and the municipalities would work with that person. Lawyer stated that there is no structure with employees being on the board making decisions on payroll and other interest on all these things that they shouldn’t be doing ; just a conflict of interest. The Board agreed until we know which direction we are going with the options that the Lawyer has given them we will then continue or not this conversation along with Proposal for Middle Inlet for 2027 ; payroll increases for 2027. Chairman Engelmann assured the board that at next meeting he wants to see employee schedules, hours and payroll.
Town board agreed that when structure is straightened out, everything else will fall into place. Supervisor Jicha made recommendation that the Town of Wausaukee would like to pursue option #2 with Municipalities running the Organization and move forward with setting the bylaws based on that option and then review. Supervisor Brandon Taylor added that how we each vote is based on funding by municipality.
